Elaine Welteroth is an inspiring figure in the media who continues to make her mark and presence in the industry known today. A journalist, editor, and TV host who has already accomplished so much in her career, Elaine Welteroth’s journey to success is an inspirational one — one that many of us can get several nuggets of motivation from.

Elaine is known for many stellar accomplishments in her ongoing domination of the media industry. She became the editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue in 2016, becoming the second Black person to ever hold the prestigious title in the company’s century-long history.

Also, getting the position as head editor of Teen Vogue at the age of 29 has also earned Elaine the title of the second youngest editor in the history of Condé Nast — the parent company of Teen Vogue.

Elaine is also known for revolutionizing Teen Vogue and steering the publication towards relevant topics such as social justice and the current state of politics. Her time as editor of the popular publication is considered to be a memorable one — mostly because of the active role she took in making Teen Vogue a socially responsible platform, especially during the 2016 presidential election.

Elaine’s way up to the top as a media maven was not full of dandelions and daisies. Getting her first job as a mascot in a local restaurant, Elaine had already started the process of learning and experiencing new things all the way down from humble beginnings.

One piece of advice that Elaine had always kept on the top of her mind was, “Bite off more than you can chew, and chew as fast as you can”. Her career progressed to getting an internship in marketing agencies and serving as a producer in digital media companies.

Elaine’s big break was when she joined Ebony magazine and rose through the ranks to become the firm’s Beauty and Style Editor. Her influence and leadership roles had spread far and wide — all the way to her history-making position as editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue.

After her stint as editor, Elaine has also been featured in many high-profile engagements such as becoming a judge in the hit TV series Project Runway and publishing a memoir.

Elaine’s advocacy for social justice in the media industry has forever cemented her legacy as a media maven who serves as an inspiration to many. Transforming the way media sees the American youth, Elaine’s journey to become a respected media expert is one that will be remembered as one that has made relevant strides in the industry.
